Camden’s Birthday Party

IMG_3287

It was a pretty major birthday… and Cam only had a few friends he wanted to invite… and I was feeling lazy after Elsie’s birthday… so I did the unthinkable and actually put on a party that cost money. I have to say, though, it was pretty fun.

First the 4 kids (Cam’s three friends and one friend of Ana’s) arrived and set their gifts down and went off to play for a minute and when they came back, the presents were gone! There was a clue left behind. The clues were all written very very very small, but luckily Cam had a magnifying glass (small writing is best achieved by blowing up a balloon, writing tiny on it with a Sharpie and letting it dry completely, then deflating the balloon… we then cut it out so it looked less like a balloon and they wouldn’t just blow it up and figure it out). The kids figured out we needed to walk into town and get on a city bus. On the way, we went through some dragon dancers celebrating the Chinese New Year!

On the bus, they found another clue which told them at which stop to get off…

Which was the middle of Kahului at the Maui Mall. Once there, they found a clue (all these clues were placed by Ana’s stealthiness while the other kids were looking for them) that lead them to…

The movie theater! Ana and Cam LOVE the Tintin books, so they were over the moon about getting to see it put in motion on the big screen… in 3D no less! I have to say, it was a great film. I’m working on reading the books now.

After that, we had some GuriGuri Ice Cream and got back on the bus to go home. Somehow those birthday presents were right back where they were when they disappeared! Those bandits are so tricky.

Happy Birthday Cam!

After all that time we had together, we missed talking about the details of this fun party. Your creativity immerges, as always! What a great day!

Wow!! I'm always impressed by your creativity. Sounds like a lot of fun. I would have lOVED a party like this when I was a kid. My mom always used to give us really fun, themed parties...I don't know if I can live up to both of your ideas, but I'm going to try!
