Cam’s Baptism

IMG_3340

What a great day! My mom came to visit on February 3rd and stayed until February 14th (more on that later… it deserves it’s own blog post for sure), and both Jonah’s parents arrived on the 13th. We were so blessed to be able to have Cam’s baptism right during that short 18 hours that their visits overlapped.

How lucky is Cam to be baptized on Valentine’s Day!? He will always be able to celebrate the anniversaries of his baptism and remember God’s love for him on that day.

Cam was so excited that his Grandfather could be the one to baptize him. He sure does love and admire his Grandfather and he was excited to be baptized by the same man who baptized his dad.

We are so thankful for everyone who braved the early morning to come join in the joyous occasion!

So full of love and admiration for our boy and his decision to be baptized.

Camden’s Birthday Party

IMG_3287

It was a pretty major birthday… and Cam only had a few friends he wanted to invite… and I was feeling lazy after Elsie’s birthday… so I did the unthinkable and actually put on a party that cost money. I have to say, though, it was pretty fun.

First the 4 kids (Cam’s three friends and one friend of Ana’s) arrived and set their gifts down and went off to play for a minute and when they came back, the presents were gone! There was a clue left behind. The clues were all written very very very small, but luckily Cam had a magnifying glass (small writing is best achieved by blowing up a balloon, writing tiny on it with a Sharpie and letting it dry completely, then deflating the balloon… we then cut it out so it looked less like a balloon and they wouldn’t just blow it up and figure it out). The kids figured out we needed to walk into town and get on a city bus. On the way, we went through some dragon dancers celebrating the Chinese New Year!

On the bus, they found another clue which told them at which stop to get off…

Which was the middle of Kahului at the Maui Mall. Once there, they found a clue (all these clues were placed by Ana’s stealthiness while the other kids were looking for them) that lead them to…

The movie theater! Ana and Cam LOVE the Tintin books, so they were over the moon about getting to see it put in motion on the big screen… in 3D no less! I have to say, it was a great film. I’m working on reading the books now.

After that, we had some GuriGuri Ice Cream and got back on the bus to go home. Somehow those birthday presents were right back where they were when they disappeared! Those bandits are so tricky.

Happy Birthday Cam!

So Many Girls!

IMG_3189

Now that Poem has made a leap from that somewhat androgynous babyhood into what I can predict will be some girl-power, will-power toddler years, I am daily amazed at how we have become a house full of girls.

IMG_3190

I could write about how we are just inundated with pink and dolls and princesses and dance classes, but sorry. That’s just Elsie. She’s the only girly-girl. Yet no need to worry—she makes up for the rest of us in that respect.

Po figuring out what to drop through the hole in the floor when Ana surprised her.

Nope. Girls “Eyre-style” means adventurous, strong-willed, never stop doing, better watch out or I will take over the world girls. It’s a lot of high-energy, high-drama, lots of laughs, and lots of fun around here.

Poor Cam. But he handles it with grace and aplomb and some good books and secret hiding places and his own imagination where he is a powerful ninja and an only child.

Camden’s Birthday

IMG_3220

Cam’s birthday was a few weeks ago, and despite the look on his face showing his consternation about his sisters waking him too early and crowding him too much, he had a great NUMBER EIGHT birthday!

We can’t believe our little butterball of sleepiness has had his big time birthday already.

 IMG_3223

Po by this time… the third birthday in two months, not including Christmas… knew all about presents. It took all of our efforts to keep her from opening them all before Cam had a chance to shake them and try and figure out what they were.

Cam is like me and likes to save all his presents for as long as possible, but his sisters were all up at the crack of dawn to get him to open them quick. Luckily he has become very good at quelling their persistent nagging, and he did manage to make his scant amount of presents last all day.

But who needs presents when your mom makes unlimited donuts for breakfast?!

After breakfast we took a trip to Cam’s favorite beach—the Boat Ramp beach. The kids like to jump off the boat docks in between the scuba boats coming in.  Um, scary?

I find more and more similarities between Ana and Po every day. Here’s one: total love of water and waves. And running.

This photo is blurry because I had to hurry and take it and then drop the camera and grab Po before she rode the skateboard down the stairs. She’s always looking for new adventures. She keeps me fit and fast.

Cam’s chocolate cakes. The strawberries make an eight. You have just witnessed the pinnacle of my cake decorating abilities. Feel free to pin this on Pinterest. Also note the fine votive candles. They dripped so much wax on his chair that we have yet to get it all off.

Happy Birthday Cam!! It was a great one… but it wasn’t over yet. Stay tuned for the birthday party and baptism!

Cam is a Cub Scout

Just a few weeks after turning eight (I still need to post photos of that, don't I?), Cam got to do the Pinewood Derby at the Maui whole-island Scout-o-Rama. It was my first Scout-o-Rama and it was fun for all.

I'm posting from my phone and I can't figure out how to organize the photos (thanks Malia for the photos, btw), but there is a photo of Ana contemplating getting her ears pierced (her friend loaned her some clip ons), Cam with his good buddy Kainalu, Elsie with her friends, and pics of Jonah and Cam with their derby cars at the same age. Can you tell who is who?

Cam got third in his heat and his time was in the top 25% (there were 100 cars raced), which is pretty good since its his first race and he worked on the car all by himself. Good job Cam! Taking after your dad and the infamous Golden Shark!

This picture below may mean that Cam will not be very tall.  Kainalu is his same age.
