Don’t you just love red eyes with children?
The girls and I flew from Maui to Seattle, and Poem I got about ten hours of sleep in over three nights. Yikes!
But we were so excited to take a field trip to Victoria with the kids’ homeschool group the next morning that we didn’t let the travel lag slow us down. We never had a chance to visit Victoria, B.C. while we were living in Sequim, even though we could see it across the water. It was good to finally take the plunge and go!
It is a charming little city, and we couldn’t have asked for nicer weather.
Since the homeschool group was footing the bill, we of course visited the gorgeous but normally prohibitively expensive Butchart Gardens.
Can you tell that Po liked to ride the horse statue ALONE!, thank you.
Well, maybe Ana is okay. But just Ana!
They had some fairly astounding flowers, I must say!
After the gardens, we took a long tour of the city on a double decker bus, visited the Victorian mansion of Craigdarroch Castle (so cool!) and even got in a visit to the Royal British Columbia Museum which had a full sized wooly mammoth diorama among other awesome things. We had a great long day and the kids all did splendidly. They even had enough energy to make friends and organize a hide-n-go-seek game on the ferry on the way back to the USA. I think we should take on Europe now!!

Spectacular photography as usual! The kids look adorable and just a little cold. It's that thin blood! Can't believe Po's curls. Adorable!
Can't wait to see you soon! I'm waiting for you to read the instructions for the new dishwasher that we just put in the Bamboo House. I just can't make myself do it and I know you are a pro!
I always love reading your posts--it's like watching the best reality show ever (in a totally good way, if you were worried)!
