Robisons Visit

Gabe and Poem in the piano room

The day after we recovered from the County Fair, my sister Sonna and her family came to visit. YAY! I look forward to such events all year.

Sonna has Ruthie, my niece who is 4.5 like Elsie, and she has Gabe “Reggie” who turned one while they were in Washington. Look at how cute he is! Plus he wore Cam’s hand-me-downs almost the whole time, so it made him extra cute to me!

Sonna’s husband Sloan had a few weeks vacation from dental school, so they drove from Las Vegas to Prove to visit his parents, then to central Oregon to go camping with Sloan’s sister and her family, then to visit us in Sequim, then came with us up to Blakely (next post), thn went to West Yellowstone to visit friends, then back to Vegas! And they camped the whole time! That sounds like something crazy we would do. Glad I could be a good example. :)

Crabbing with Robisons

As soon as they showed up, that great warm weather we were having just disappeared. But, it came back after a couple days, luckily. On one of the gloomy days, Jonah took them out crabbing. (Jonah had marginal success with crabbing this year… everywhere seemed a little depleted, and people were stealing crab out of our pots to boot!… but we more than had our fill of crab this year. YUM YUM!!)

Poem and Hudson in the living room

The Robisons also brought their great dog Hudson with them. He was a little cold they had to get him a wool vest. Poem was is HEAVEN! She loves dogs.

 Poem and Gabe blurry

She also loves Gabe… her totally delightful older cousin. He was such a good role model for her.

 Poem in the bath

We also fit all six cousins in the bath! I’ll spare you the photos. Actually… I think Cam opted out of the big cousin bath.

 Sheep and Ana

One of the most memorable experiences while they were there was making a temporary corral and catching the sheep. It was exhilarating! We sold four of the sheep and butchered one for the freezer. Sloan got to practice some of his dental school skills during that fun. Our friend Matt (see bear hunting photo from previous post), who is also a paramedic firefighter, came and explained to Sloan all the anatomy they were experiencing. Sounds gross, but it’s actually pretty cool.

 Sheep in a Jeep

The people who bought the other five sheep picked them up in a Cherokee. Sheep in a Jeep!

We gave them a discount on the sheep because it was so awesome that they fit them all in the car with them for the 1.5 hour ride home.

 Cousins in the boat

We also loaded up the boat for a trip to Lake Sutherland.

 Gabe and Crawfish

Where Gabe was not happy about the crawdad we found.

It actually was a delightful trip to the lake and was without hiccup, except for when the fuel line disconnected and it took a little while to figure out what was wrong. Oops.

Ana showed off some more of that one-ski-waterskiing for everyone too. Yay Ana!

Anyway, the Robisons left for Blakely a day before us so we could get organized and clean the house since we realized we actually had not yet recovered from the County Fair and were still exhausted and uncollected. But, what a wonder 24 hours can do and we were able to leave for Blakely feeling excited and relaxed.
