May Day School Dance

The kids' elementary school does a May Day celebration every year during which each grade performs a dance. Kindergarten did a hula and Elsie loved it. She's been begging to be in hula lessons ever since. Ir was pretty darn cute.

Grade Three did something fairly remarkable: the whole grade (four classrooms) performed a squared dance for about 15 minutes and all the squares changed partners and rotated around the whole field. It was seamless and totally entertaining. Cam was fantastic. He's actually a pretty good dancer. Who would have guessed?
I guess the square dance caused some third grade drama, though, because not a few different girls wanted to be Cam's partner and he was more than mildly embarrassed about that.

We were glad to celebrate the kids finishing their first year of Hawaiian elementary school. It was a great year! We've been very happy with the school here, especially because the kids (meaning Cam and Elsie of course) love going every day. I still offer to homeschool them, but I have to admit--they are both made for public school. Especially Cam. I think the powers that be actually created public school after getting to know a child exactly like him. Well, except for the girl drama. He could probably do without the girl drama, but give him a few years and he's going to love it!
